The Universal House of Justice

This site is related to my main education site where I am posting all of my stuff that is for the wider community.

This site indicates possible connections, especially inspiring connections, between Baha’i writings and the posts on the main education site – SEE principles in memorandum below. Following the dynamics of the principles in the memorandum I developed the Bahá’í -inspired doctoral thesis which is HERE. This site is also for presenting material that could be of interest for adult deepenings, youth sessions and children’s classes.

In 1992 I wrote to the Universal House of Justice asking about further studies in education. The Universal House of Justice instructed the Research Department to prepare a memorandum which I have taken as my ‘mandate’ for the last 15 years work including the thesis. I continue to look at ways that Bahá’í principles illumine educational practice and theory, and conversely how best practice in the wider community can help make clearer principles that are implicit, as well as those that are explicit, in Bahá’í writings. Of course as general principles the guidance from the House of Justice could be applied to other fields of study and practice.

The key concepts in the memorandum I present below:

We …..”might make a contribution to the evolutionary process of devising an educational system which “would be in full harmony with the spirit of the Bahá’í Teachings”.

Knowledge of educational theory, for example, could assist (us) in identifying some of the relevant “basic principles” and ” teaching ideals” that are set out in the Baha’is Writings. Such principles could in turn, serve as a basis for highlighting positive aspects of contemporary educational theory and practice which could contribute to the implementation of Baha’is “teaching ideals”. Research Dept. Memorandum 21st May 1992

The site therefore concerns, in addition to practical materials, the ‘principles’ and ideals’ of Baha’i education and Baha’i-inspired education.  Having spent 15 years using the guidance from the House of Justice to create a Baha’i-inspired model this site now comments on the model using the Writings.

EARLY DAYS: Please be patient whilst I get this site up and running. In the meantime you can find a large number of materials and ideas at my main site on Holistic Education HERE to which the posts here will relate.

Please send ideas and constructive critiques to rogerprenticeATbigfoot.com (replace AT with @)

All good wishes
